Open Play
Scheduled Open Play takes place on courts 1-8.
During scheduled open play, court reservations are not permitted. A facilitator may be present to help organize play and to help newer players understand how to fit in at McGaw. Separate courts and paddle saddles are used for beginning, intermediate and advanced players (see terminology). Please familiarize yourself with rules for court usage. During Open Play, players are encouraged -- but not required -- to mix with other players; however players are required to share courts in a fair way, and afford everyone a chance to play. During hours not covered in the Weekly Schedule, some courts may be reserved while the remaining courts are used for Open Play.
League Play
League Play requires registration and takes place on courts 1-4.

Players sign up individually for league play, which is competition-oriented. Each league runs for several weeks and may be restricted by skill level, gender, or age.
Learn and Play
Learn and Play requires registration and takes place on courts 1-4.

These sessions provide an introduction to pickleball for new players. Over several weeks, players learn the rules and basics of how to play, safety, very basic strategy, etiquette and how to fit in at McGaw's courts. Players are given opportunities to play with and against other beginners, with an experienced organizer present. Beginners are encouraged to join the general player community for Open Play as soon as they feel ready.
Family Fun Play
Family Fun Play takes place on courts 1-4.

This is a time for families, especially with kids, to enjoy pickleball and to make new friends.
Pickles and Beer
Pickles and Beer takes place on courts 1-6.
This is an opportunity at the end of a work week to meet and mix with other players socially along with friendly pickleball. You are invited to bring and share beverages and snacks (to be consumed outside the court area). There are a few picnic tables at McGaw but you should bring a chair. This tends to be very popular, frequently drawing 50 or more players. Please sign up each week via PlayTime Scheduler.
Reservations & Drop-In
During daylight hours when the courts are not otherwise in use, you may reserve a court or simply drop-in and play without a reservation. If many players drop-in simultaneously, they are expected to cooperate and find reasonable ways to share courts. Please use PlayTime Scheduler to signal your intent to use court space for both reserved and planned drop-in play.
